Long recordings

Plug the phone in for anything over an hour or so, and stand it on a tripod or something steady. If the phone gets warm, Timelasso turns the screen down.

Leave Timelasso on screen while it records. Control Centre, notifications and Siri don’t interrupt it. Leaving the app, locking the phone, a call, or the camera getting too hot pauses the recording, and the screen says why. If Timelasso is closed while recording, the recording is waiting, paused, when you open it again.

Pausing and reframing

Tap the shutter to pause. The paused screen shows the video so far over the camera’s view, so you can line the shot up again if the phone has moved. Touch and hold to see the camera’s view on its own, and tap to focus. Then choose Resume to carry on, Done to make the video, or Discard.

Storage

Timelasso only offers the lengths your free space can hold. A minute of video in 4K at 60 fps needs about 4 GB free; in HD, under 2 GB. If the length picker says Storage full, free some space in Settings → General → iPhone Storage and come back.

Short recordings

Timelasso takes 10 pictures a second, so its videos always run at least 3 times faster than real life at 30 fps, and 6 times faster at 60 fps. A 10-second video at 30 fps needs at least 30 seconds of recording, or a minute at 60 fps. Timelasso shows this minimum when you choose a length and counts it down while recording. Stop sooner and the video is shorter, sped up but not blended; record longer and each frame blends more time together.

Video Overlay

Settings (the cog) → Video Overlay has two switches: Watermark, the timelasso.app mark, and Recording time, how long the recording ran, written beside it. The same switches are on the finished video’s screen, so you can change your mind after a recording.

Remove Watermark

Every feature works with the watermark on. Removing it is a one-time purchase: turn the Watermark switch off (it shows a lock until you’ve bought it). The same dialog has Restore Purchase, for a new device or after reinstalling.

Camera and Photos access

If Timelasso can’t use the camera or save to Photos, turn access on in the Settings app under Apps, then Timelasso.

If a recording goes wrong

If a recording stops early, won’t save, or the phone gets hot, please email hello@timelasso.app the newest file from Files → On My iPhone → Timelasso (On My iPad on an iPad) whose name starts with TimePress. It’s a small log of numbers, with no pictures or video, and it’s the only way to see what happened: nothing is sent automatically.

Requirements

iPhone or iPad with iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later. 4K and 60 fps need an iPhone 12 or iPad Air (4th generation) or newer; older devices record HD at 30 fps.
